I know you possibly opened this blog because the title caught your attention but that’s how I honestly felt after been held down for a few days studying James 3 – it says no man can tame the tongue (I believe this because I have tried to tame this wonderful tongue of mine for several years and it’s just not worked or sustainable…so how do we attain this perfect life especially now that I’m teaching others?!? It’s only by the help of the Holy Spirit so if you were like me and you don’t want to see these negative effects you better wake up every morning and start asking the Holy Spirit to help you especially in the words that come out of your mouth…
Proverbs has some very useful insights about my mouth which has been helpful e.g. Prov 10:19 – “Too much talk leads to sin. Be sensible and keep your mouth shut”, Prov 13:2-3 – “Wise words will win you a good meal…Those who control their tongue will have a long life, opening your mouth can ruin everything”, Prov 17:27-28 – “A truly wise person uses few words; a person of understanding is even tempered. Even fools are thought to be wise when they keep silent…”, Prov 29:20 – There is more hope for a fool than for someone who speaks without thinking”… but with all these I still can’t do it without the help of the Holy Spirit, neither can you! For us to become who we were meant to be though, we need to earnestly work on this little but powerful part of our body and start allowing ONLY positive things that line up with the word of God to come out of our mouth and don’t speak when you don’t need to and when you speak, don’t say too much!
You were born to win, not lose and be under all the days of your life. Start living that victorious life today and take control of your life and destiny by asking the Holy Spirit to help you at all time and watch carefully what comes out of your mouth at all time – even when you’re joking!
